North and west through BC and into the Yukon.

The next morning I continued west, past Smithers and New Hazelton, then turned north onto the Cassiar Highway, that would take me to the Yukon. About an hour up the Cassiar I made a sidetrip to Stewart, BC and Hyder, Alaska.

Driving into Stewart reminded me of the Bella Coola Valley. Steep and wet.

There was still snow everywhere (this is practically sealevel in mid-June!)

Downtown Stewart

Hyder is in the southern Alaska Panhandle, population about 20. No border check into Alaska, but the Canadians checked me on the way back. Asked me all the usual questions: How long I'd been out of the country, etc. The Hyder school kids (there are 3 of them) cross over to Stewart to go to school since their school was closed last year.

Back on the Cassiar I drove north through Deese Lake and Good Hope Lake, and into the Yukon.

Just west of Watson Lake I met the Alaska Highway, which I then drove on to Whitehorse for the night.
