Vancouver Island

August 6-12, 2011

Our annual trip to Vancouver Island to visit family is always a great time.
This year, we visited the McCuish side of the family first, at Paul and Wendy's house on Yellow Point.
Afterwards, we made our way up to Ann and Arne's house on Sproat Lake to visit with some of the family on the Taylor side.

Highlights are below. All photos link to larger versions.

McCuish Family - Yellow Point (near Nanaimo, B.C.)

Family Photo!
We took this photo a little too late and missed Lillianna, Brock, Shannon, and Rob.

We took a stroll around Paul and Wendy's place, visiting with the chickens and goats.

Walking down to the pond.

I caught Sebastian making a funny face while floating a kayak on the pond.

My cousin, Evan.

Brock, Paul, Rob and Shannon hanging out on the front porch.

The Botten Family.
Hopefully, we can split the cost of a cabin with you guys next year.
Shawn, I'll bring Stone brews and a guitar!

We spent Saturday afternoon down at the local beach.

My uncle Paul, and Morgan hanging with her great-grandmother, Katy.

We all had a good time playing in the water and lounging around on the beach.

Cynthia in one of Paul and Wendy's kayaks.

On Sunday afternoon, we had some lunch before Cynthia, Morgan, and I departed for Sproat Lake.
Thank you all for the good times. It was too short!
We hope to extend the visit for a couple more days next year.

Taylor Family - Sproat Lake (near Port Alberni, B.C.)

Family Photo
Once again, we missed Brock, who left on Tuesday.

Chess is a tradition up at the lake.
Morgan spent some time on the lap of her other great grandmother, Peggy.

Brock and Cynthia hanging out down on the lawn, socializing with the neighbors.

A few of us went on a short hike up into the Beaufort Range, managing to get a view of both coasts of Vancouver Island.

Not exactly a summit shot, but a group photo from the hike, anyway.

Morgan got into the water with me a few times this year.
She was pretty uneasy, but obviously having an exciting time holding onto me.
She loved watching everyone jump into the water, and jumped into the lake herself once, right into my arms!

Morgan was much more relaxed on the dock this year. She even made it over to the logs with Margot and Cynthia!

Arne found the ultimate comfort position, feet in the water, legs over an inflatable, head on a tube, hat over the eyes, beer in-hand.
Ahhhhh..... Sproat Lake.

Thanks for the good times everyone!

We'll see you next year!
