Long Beach Peninsula, Washington

New Years 2013-2014

To bring in the new year, the Taylor family spent three days and four nights out on the on the coast of southwest Washington.
We were out there with my co-workers, Doug and Mike, as well Mike's family and some of Mike's friends and thier kids.

Big thanks, again, from all of us to Len Anderson for providing us with the great deal on the rooms at the Surfside Inn!

We lucked out with the weather (again!) and had mostly sunny days.
The low tide (clam dig time) was generally right before sunset, which made for some cool photos.

All of the photos below link to the large, full-resolution versions. Feel free to take a copy.

Morgan and I got lots of time for playing on the dunes and making a cool sand castle.
Darn it! I forgot to get a photo of the sand castle: The mighty Fortress Aurora!

Morgan is learning how to write, and we found that the beach makes the ultimate chalk-board.
She loved climbing around in the dune-grass and pointing out ways that the sand castle could be improved.
We didn't always agree on this point, however.

Here are the clammers, getting ready to head out and slay some shellfish!

New Years Eve was a great time. Morgan and Iris were best buds and stayed up until midnight.

Rhea was playing the Pied Piper with a bubble generator and a trailing pack of kids.
This photo came out a little strange due to the lighting (and the photographer.. it was New Years Eve and this is pretty much how everything looked by midnight!)

Not everyone made it until midnight. Poor Cynthia was fighting a bad cold and passed out early.
After a few tries, we managed to get most of the New Years Eve survivors into a group photo, just after midnight.

This is becoming a really fun tradition. Happy New Year!
