Starting out.

I'm back from a road trip to the Arctic Circle and Alaska. I took a few photos that I thought some of you might enjoy. I left Taos on Sunday, June 14, driving north through Colorado (Alamosa, Leadville (10,500ft), and Craig) and into Wyoming and up to Jackson Hole where I spent the night. I was driving my pickup with a canopy and I had a mattress and sleeping bag in the back. The next day I continued north through the Teton National Park and into Yellowstone., where I took my first pictures.

Here's a map of the full trip. Starting at A (Taos), B(Jackson Hole), C(Vernon, BC), and so on. I didn't draw the final step from N(Montrose, CO) back to Taos, because it got too confusing.

Old Faithful is the biggest of a vast number of geysers in this valley. It erupts every 75 minutes or so.

I arrived just after it had blown, so I got some coffee and hung around with the other tourists to get this shot.

The park is full of Buffalo. You can see the steam from water that bubbles right on the surface to the left.

I think I was the only idiot to get out of his vehicle. There were hundreds of cars and campers backed up behind these guys. Yellowstone is a very crowded place.

I then continued north into Montana where I caught I90 West through Idaho and into Washington as far as Spokane, where I turned North and drove up into BC, arriving at my mother's place in Vernon at 10 pm. She'd waited up for me so we had some wine and conversation until midnight or so. I stayed for a couple of nights (but I didn't take a single picture!) On the 17th I left after noon and drove to Nicole and Shawn's place in Prince George where I was treated to a great quiche and some beer.

Here Is Sebastian, Nicole and Shawn's wonderful kid.

On the way out of town I drove past a couple old homesteads.

Then I drove west past Clucultz lake where I tried a number of roads, trying to find the old McCuish cabin, but the sun was setting, and it all seemed so different to me... Anyway, I gave up and drove on to Ft. Fraser where I spent the night.
