We opened the glorious season of 2000 with my first hike with Dan! Hell yeah!

Meeting Dan was obviously a great thing, as we have become alpine team mates and good friends in the many years since.
Also, this hike was our first foray into the Enchantments. We were out there early in the year, too early.
We camped at the little stream between Upper and Lower Snow Lake.
I recall sleeping outside the tent and waking up in the morning to a crust of ice on my sleeping bag.
Without any trail to guide us, we climbed up the steep snowy slope to near Leprechaun Lake.
Out of time and just at the threshold of the Enchantments, we turned back and hiked out.
