Mt. Deception
Summer 1999

Kevin and I climbed Mt. Deception in the Olympic Range in 1999.
Our friend Bro was there as well, but didn't make it to the summit.

On Day 1, the three of us hiked into base camp, which was about 8 miles up the Dosewallips River.
On Day 2, we climbed about 4800 feet, over about 2 miles, up to the summit!
Bro waited for us in a sub-alpine basin above camp.
We hiked out the same day, making for quite the death march. We didn't get back to the parking lot until well after dark, with one weak haedlight between the three of us.

In total, we climbed (and descended) 6900 feet and hiked 24 miles round-trip!

Learning those ice axe skills...

Up and up!
